Mardi Gras in Veracruz -- called Carnaval in Mexico -- is the holiday celebrated as a 5-day festival of the libido before the Catholic period of Lent. Beginning every year the weekend before Lent, Carnaval is exuberantly enjoyed with parades, floats, costumes, music, dancing, and all-night partying.
